Victim identified in U.S. 6 head-on crash
UPDATE: 3:50 p.m. Aug. 6: A driver killed shortly after 6:30 a.m. Friday in a crash on U. S. Route 6 westbound at 200 East, Henry County, has been identified, a news release says.
A preliminary investigative indicates a 1995 black Ford Mustang was traveling west on Route 6 near 200 East. A 2022 white Ford F250 was traveling east at the same location, the release says.
The Mustang drove into eastbound traffic and struck the Ford head-on. Mason T. Shea, 35, of Rock Island, who was driving the Mustang, was pronounced deceased at the scene, the release says.
U. S. Route 6 near 200 East was closed for about five hours for the investigation.
EARLIER UPDATE: Illinois State Police released preliminary investigative details on Friday’s head-on crash on U.S. Highway 6 in Henry County.
A 1995 black Ford Mustang was traveling westbound on U.S. 6 near East 200th Street. A 2022 white Ford F250 was traveling eastbound at the same location. The driver of the Mustang drove into eastbound traffic and struck the F250 head-on.
The driver of the Mustang was pronounced dead at the scene.
The driver of the F250 was uninjured.
U.S. 6 was closed for around five hours for the investigation.

Henry County Coroner Melissa Watkins confirmed to Local 4 News that one person died in this morning’s head-on crash on U.S. Highway 6 in Henry County.
The identity of the victim is being withheld until the family is notified.

Illinois State Police confirmed to Local 4 News that at least one person has died in the U.S. Highway 6 head-on crash.
It is about a half mile east of Monday’s accident, just east of East 200th Street.
The Henry County Coroner is on the scene, as well as the Coal Valley Fire Department, the Colona Fire Department, the Coal Valley Police Department and Henry County sheriff’s deputies.

U.S. 6 is closed at the intersection of East 200th Street near Colona, close to the location where 78-year-old Raymond Rankin of Rock Island was killed in a crash on Monday.
