Given her status as one of Hollywood's rising stars, Sofia Boutella is no stranger to looking glamorous for a host of glittering red carpets,

But on Tuesday night, the Algerian-born beauty, 34, came close to suffering a disastrous wardrobe malfunction at the London premiere of her highly-anticipated sci-fi movie Star Trek And Beyond.

The stunning actress turned heads as she arrived at Leicester Square's Empire in a sheer black lace dress, but grasped all the wrong attention as her golden heel got stuck in her floor-length gown.

The screen star was seen struggling as she attempted avoid both tripping over and damaging her revealing ensemble while maintaining some semblance of poise for the cameras and fans.

Thankfully for the actress, dashing actor Idris Elba came to the rescue, standing beside her as he helped her remove her heel from the dress.

Sofia - who plays Jaylah in the movie - was eventually able to avert any possible disasters, smiling as she made her way down the customised white carpet like a true Hollywood star.

Sofia's dress featured a relatively high neckline with long sleeves, which would have given her quite the demure look were it not for her gown's sheer design, giving full view of her enviably lean legs.

She sported dazzling jewels designed by Messika while her raven locks cascaded beyond her shoulders in soft waves and pink lipstick gave her overall look a pop of colour.

At the hot ticket event, she joined Chris Pine, Zachary Quinton and Simon Pegg, who also put on their finest sartorial displays.

Lead protagonist Chris, who stars as Captain Kirk, looked typically handsome in a dark suit with a buttoned down white shirt and an eye-catching blue pocket square.

Chris sported rugged facial hair for his walk down the white runway, with his well-coiffed locks slicked in a neat fashion. He put on a close display with co-star John Cho, gripping him by the arms and leaning in for a kiss.

Standing out from the crowd was Zachary, who stars as fan favourite Spock, in a maroon suit with immaculate brown brogues and a tie and pocket square which perfect complemented the jacket and trousers.

Meanwhile, Simon, who stars as Montgomery 'Scotty' Scott and also co-wrote the film, wore a dark navy, two button, notch lapel suit, shirt, tie, and pocket square all by Ermenegildo Zegna.

Appearing as an alien commender called Krall in the third instalment of the rebooted series, Idris Elba was his usual cool self at the premiere in a military-style trench coat worn over a black polo shirt which he teamed with burgundy trousers and black boots.

Laura Whitmore, 31, looked typically gorgeous in a sophisticated plunging white minidress. The blonde beauty looked relaxed with her hands tucked in her pockets as she posed for photographs.

Her blonde locks were tied back in a ponytail with some loose tendrils framing her face. The Irish beauty sported a radiant glow and decorated her peepers with dark eye make-up and her lip[s with a slick of rouge.

With just 10 days to go before it hits screens, Star Trek Beyond released its latest high-adrenaline trailer on Monday.

The all-too-short 30-second spot will certainly whet the appetites of Trekkies already pumped up for the third blockbuster in the rebooted franchise.

Titled Unity, it's the third trailer released so far and gives another look at the deadly aliens that powered the two-and-a-half minute clip that appeared in May.

It's intercut with rapid-fire glimpses of cities exploding and space ships crashing, all stunningly rendered.

However, it also shows the more human side of Captain Kirk, played by Chris Pine, and his closest crew. 

In the opening seconds he walks with Dr McCoy (Karl Urban) talking excitedly about their new mission, saying: 'Can you imagine what we'll find?'

McCoy, aka Bones, deadpans prophetically: 'Aliens hell bent on killing us.' 'That's the spirit, Bones,' Kirk replies.

Powered up: The 30-second clip shows Kirk leading his crew as they fight for their lives on the Enterprise after it's boarded by aliens 

Adrenaline pumping: Spock aims his weapon and unleashes a deadly ray in the heat of battle

In another brief respite from the maelstrom Kirk tells Zachary Quinto's Spock: 'I think we make a good team.' The logical Vulcan replies: 'I believe we do.'

And fans get a brief but satisfying interaction with the alien leader who tells Kirk: 'Unity is not your strength.'

He cracks back: 'I think you underestimate humanity.'

Meanwhile, the cast has been mourning the death of one of the movie's young stars.

Anton Yelchin, who played Chekov, was tragically killed at age 27 after he was crushed by his car in a freak accident Los Angeles last month.

Star Trek Beyond will be hitting cinemas nationwide on July 22.
