Katy Perry Shows Off Daisy Nail Art When Announcing Daughter's Birth
Congratulations! Katy Perry and Orlando Bloom welcomed their first child into the world on Wednesday, August 26. To celebrate the exciting news, Perry got a sweet nail design on her thumb.
In a statement shared with UNICEF on Wednesday, the couple announced the birth of their baby girl Daisy Dove Bloom. In a black-and-white pic Perry posted to Instagram on Thursday morning, the newborn holds her dad’s thumb while the new mom holds her baby’s tiny hand with a lovely little daisy painted onto the nail of the 35-year-old’s thumb.
“We are floating with love and wonder from the safe and healthy arrival of our daughter,” the accompanying caption reads, quoting the UNICEF statement. “But we know we’re the lucky ones and not everyone can have a birthing experience as peaceful as ours was. Communities around the world are still experiencing a shortage of healthcare workers and every eleven seconds a pregnant woman or newborn dies, mostly from preventable causes. Since COVID-19, many more newborn lives are at risk because of a greater lack of access to water, soap, vaccines and medicines that prevent diseases. As parents to a newborn, this breaks our hearts, as we empathize with struggling parents now more than ever.” The engaged pair serve as Goodwill Ambassadors for the organization.
The “Firework” singer is no stranger to nail art. She’s rocked everything from blinged-out dollar bills to 2016 election-themed talons. However, this subtle, quaint design is by far her best. Not to mention, the most touching.
Back in March, the performer announced her pregnancy in a music video for “Never Worn White,” as she cradled her baby bump in a sleek sheer gown. Later on, she confirmed the news in an Instagram Live, sharing that she was “excited and happy.”
