After finishing high school, Olsen attended Hope College in Holland, Michigan before moving to Los Angeles to enroll in Pepperdine University where he did not graduate until 2007 due to his acting career.

Eric Christian Olsen began his acting career while studying at Pepperdine University. He landed roles in commercials, and later auditioned for television shows and movies. Some of his early roles include parts in “Turks” and “ER” in 1999 and 2000, and a role in the main cast of the show “Get Real” in 1999. In 2001, he appeared in the film “Pearl Harbor” and played a leading role in “Not Another Teen Movie” as the cocky blond guy.

In 2003, Olsen played Lloyd Christmas in “Dumb and Dumberer: When Harry Met Lloyd,” and appeared in “Cellular” and the final season of the Fox series “True Calling.” He appeared in a number of projects in 2006 and 2007, including “Beerfest,” “License to Wed,” and “The Last Kiss.” He then starred as the character Sully in the Fox sitcom “The Loop.”

In 2008, he appeared in “Eagle Eye” and “Sunshine Cleaning” and booked a recurring character role on the series “Brothers & Sisters.” He appeared in “Fired Up” and “The Six Wives of Henry Lefay” in 2009, as well as four episodes of the popular comedy series “Community.”

Eric Christian Olsen got engaged to actress Sarah Wright in 2011 and they were married the following year in Jackson Hole, Wyoming. They have three children together: Wyatt, Esme, and Winter. The family lives in Malibu, California and also own a vacation home near Jackson Hole, Wyoming. In 2015, they were featured on an episode of “House Hunters” which followed their search for the vacation home.

Olsen is an Honorary Board Member and Spokesperson for the charity “Hats Off for Cancer” and has appeared in the organization’s Public Service Announcement video. He and his wife are also members of the Board of Directors of the Environmental Media Awards.
